President Obama Redefined Family Yesterday

Posted by John Willis on September 29, 2009 in News |

In case you missed it, yesterday – September 28 – was Family Day.    I have to be honest and tell you that I’ve never heard of Family Day.  It must be fairly new because I haven’t even seen any Hallmark cards celebrating it.  What I did notice is that President Obama signed in proclamation declaring Family Day and in doing so, redefined family.

Here’s part of  the opening paragraph of the Proclamation

Whether children are raised by two parents, a single parent, grandparents, a same-sex couple, or a guardian, families encourage us to do our best and enable us to accomplish great things .

You can read the entire proclamation at the White House website.
